3D Printing: An Increasingly Accessible ‘Future’ Technology

By Peter Watson (President, Japan Society of Greater Hartford)

Join us for the post-pandemic return of JSGH Nihongo Nights! It’s a great chance to
meet, enjoy a delicious potluck dinner, and learn something new from our speaker.

Presentation Description: 3D Printing’s ability to generate detailed and useful objects from seemingly nothing, like the Replicators from Star Trek, can make it feel both magical and futuristic. But in-fact, this technology is becoming more accessible every year. With entry-level machines costing
around $200, there is a growing community of hobbyists that are using 3D printers to design and create a wide range of interesting models, tools, toys, and accessories. This presentation will have a brief overview of the technology, discuss 3D Printing as a hobby, and include a demonstration of how a model on a computer is transformed into a real-life object with a few clicks of a mouse.
(Presented by Peter Watson, who has been 3D printing for several years)
It’s not a requirement, but we will appreciate it if you can bring a dish or sweets to share. The presentation will be in English.
Place: 129 Shallowbrook Ln. Manchester, CT 06040
Date: Saturday, October 8th, 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
